Drawing from Revelations 2, we learn about the church of Ephesus - once vibrant and powerful, but later criticized for leaving their "first love." This wasn't just about losing emotional intensity, but rather about shifting from genuine devotion to mere religious routine.
Signs You May Have Left Your First Love
Going through religious motions without passion
Having zeal without knowledge
Focusing on church activities rather than genuine ministry
Replacing God's priority with other relationships or pursuits
Why Does First Love Matter in Our Faith?
The concept of first love can mean both chronological priority and supreme importance. Jesus teaches that the greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37-38). When we diminish this love, we risk becoming like the Ephesian church - maintaining good works but losing our spiritual vitality.

True repentance involves turning away from sin and the world while turning toward God with renewed devotion.

Identify any areas where religious routine has replaced genuine passion
Make specific changes to prioritize your relationship with God
Ask yourself:
Am I serving God out of duty or devotion?
